Exercise Northern Star - Friday 1st April - 1930hrs

RRO & HQ will run an exercise "Exercise Northern Star" on Friday 1st April at 1930hrs. 

This exercise will consist of Escape & Evade and Navigation. 

Aim: To provide an enjoyable and varied approach to teaching navigation and fieldcraft (Why Things Are Seen lesson). Putting these skills to the test in an active, responsive and live scenario.

To avoid ruining the surprise we will not release too many details at this point, briefings will be given on the day.

Here is the basic premise:
  • Night Ex.
  • Pte's dropped in pairs in random locations
  • Pte's must navigate to an extraction point and radio for extraction.
  • Pte's will be issued with only: Map, compass, MagLite and an emergency flare.
  • Pte's WILL be hunted.
