Overview At 4IB, we use a J-Office structure to help us create content, manage administration and provide general support to activities within the unit that do not fall under the traditional responsibility of the Chain of Command (CoC) or fit into the scope of our scheduled operations. These SOPs apply to all members who are in a J-Office within 4IB, or who are completing a task for a J-Office. There may be additional internal SOPs for each J-Office to further enhance the way they deliver content to the unit. 11-2. Content Creation In this SOP, the definition of content is defined as “Any ArmA3 modifications and their component parts, any documents, images, graphics, artwork, media, websites, videos, missions and their component parts, and ArmA3 compositions” 4thib (4IB) will retain the rights to use, host edit, recreate, retain, or copy content created for the 4th Infantry Brigade ArmA Milsim (4thib/4IB) either;

Overview J7's role is to oversee the administration of training for the entire unit by ensuring a high standard of quality is maintained unit-wide, and by ensuring frequent opportunities for members across the unit to attain greater levels of competency within their positions. This is achieved in enabling courses to be taught by trained and competent NCOs from the wider Unit holding the correct teaching qualifications. The role of the J7 team is to support all members of the Unit, both in a training capacity for Phase One and Promotional Courses, but also in an advisory capacity to NCOs delivering SME Courses. Because of the importance of their role, all instructors, both internal and external to J7, are held to a high standard that is uniform across the Unit. As such, the following SOP will help ensure those standards are maintained. Students are defined as a member of the Unit that have signed up to attend a course being Phase 1, 2, 3 or Promotional Courses. Instructors are defined as a member of the Unit that is delivering a segment of a Phase 1, 2, 3 or Promotional Course. 11-9 Sub.1-2a. Phase 1 and Promotional Course Instruction Phase 1 and all Promotional Courses can only be delivered by the relevant teams unless permitted by the J7 head. J7’s Phase 1 team will teach Phase 1 to new SuTs typically run on a Tuesday evening at 1900 as per SOP 1-3, with exceptions permitted to be made. J7's King's Division has the role of delivering courses that enable promotions to higher ranks to those who pass them. Members of King's Division only instruct specific courses, and are chosen by each promotional courses' Head Instructor. Instructors of these courses must have successfully completed the relevant course in order to deliver teachings on the cadre. 11-9 Sub.1-2b. Phase 2 and Phase 3 Course Instruction The purpose of Phase 2 and Phase 3 courses is to provide the teaching to allow for competent and confident use of the skills or equipment that are not related to rank, but allows the student to take on more duties within their current role (e.g. Driver's Course, Signal's Course, Ammunition Technician). Phase 2 & 3 courses are expected to be taught by Unit NCOs due to the high demand. As outlined in the Roles & Responsibilities, Section Commanders are expected to run one Phase 2 or Phase 3 course a month with the assistance of their 2ICs. This expectation can be bypassed by those who are instructing on Promotional Courses or J7 QA members for the months they’re carrying out their J Office duties. Prerequisites for all course instructors:
11-9 Sub.1-3. Forum Thread All Instructors are responsible for their own threads and must keep them updated in line with SOP 4-8. All Forum threads must include key data as per the Forum Template. Any members assisting the Instructors to teach the course must also be mentioned within the thread. Members assisting do not need to have passed the DIT course, but must have already passed and received the badge for the course they are assisting in instructing. All Phase 2 and Phase 3 courses are required to be posted on the forums a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the course's start - this includes courses being run during PDT. Exceptions may be allowed with the express permission of the J7 Head. All courses must be posted on the unit calendar as soon as the course thread is made. When creating this event the title should show the title of the course being run. The correct date must be selected and event details must include the start time of the course, the expected length of course, a link to the course post, and any server restrictions required (such as changing the in-game time or weather). 11-9 Sub.1-4. Discipline Any student that failed to attend the course without at least 1 hour’s notice will be disciplined as per Section 7-2, AGAI 67, Mi. 11. This will be sent by the course instructor as per AGAI 67. Instructors are permitted to issue AGAIs to their students for the relevant course up to the rank of the head of J7. If that member is of higher rank than the head of J7, contact a member of Battlegroup HQ before sending the warning. Any Instructor that feels a Student is disrupting the course has the right to kick that member off the course after giving fair warning. The Instructor will then issue discipline as per Section 7-2, AGAI 67, Mi. 4 to anyone kicked from the course as per AGAI 67. Instructors teaching on Promotional Courses who will not be able to attend must advise the head of J7 and the course SNCO 4 hours prior to the course night starting. If this is not upheld, the J7 Head can submit disciplinary action as per Section 7-2, AGAI 67, Mi. 12. Additionally, King’s Division Instructors are expected to attend their relevant courses with the attendance requirements outlined in SOP 9-4. In addition, course Instructors are expected to adhere to the principles of course education, as laid out under the DIT & SAA courses. Deviations from the DIT & SAA principles may be subject to AGAI 67 disciplinary action, and/or removal of teaching qualifications. Any Instructor wishing to leave J7 must inform the head of J7 with at least 48 hours’ notice. 11-9 Sub.1-5. Skill at Arms (SAA) Skill at Arms (SAA) is any course that teaches the safe & proper use of any weapon system such as the L85A3 or ILAW. Skill at Arms Courses require supplementary safety precautions in order to promote a realistic and balanced course, this includes strict range control & medical facilities to hand. Any inactive member or those in ARC-1/ELOA will have their Skill at Arms badge removed. 11-9 Sub.1-6. Server Restrictions Though all courses are important, Phase 1 and Promotional Courses take particular precedent over Phase 2 or 3 Courses. To ensure that these can be instructed without disruption or hindrance, certain restrictions are put in place to preserve teaching environments on Server 2 during both Promotional Courses and Phase 1.
If you are unsure of what may or may not interrupt or interfere with one of the above courses, please contact J7 directly. 11-9 Sub.1-7. Courses and Documentation When instructing courses, teaching must come from J7’s course documentation. Furthermore, all content from within a course’s documentation must be taught - this is done to ensure that all students pass with a uniform level of competency The method of Explanation, Demonstration, Imitation, and Practice (EDIP) will be followed by all Instructors to ensure the quality of teaching across the Unit meets that expected by J7. All course Instructors will conduct unbiased and thorough assessments of their students prior to the course’s completion and prior to the request of badges for their students, as outlined within the course’s documentation. The Phase 2 and Phase 3 Course documentation library is distributed to all members of the Unit holding SNCO position (A/Sgt. within the Infantry or equivalent) or higher. NCOs intending to teach Phase 2 and Phase 3 courses must inform their direct CoC of their intent, and upon acknowledgment and approval from their CoC will receive relevant course documentation from them. All course documents must have a change log. Any changes must be cleared by the head of J7 before they are made, and updated in the change log. 11-9 Sub.1-8. Quality Assurance Course Reviewing All courses and course documents are subject to inspection and review at any time without warning by the head of J7. To maintain course material relevance and training quality, members of the J7 QA team can join any course being run including CLM courses without requiring or seeking permission. When attending a course, the QA reviewer must have no involvement in the course in any capacity, ensuring they are not a distraction to the course Instructor or attending Students. Any questions must wait until after the course has completed. A QA reviewer cannot be removed or asked to leave the server or the course they are reviewing, regardless of Instructor rank, unless breaching the aforementioned rules. If during the course the QA reviewer witnesses any issues they believe to be contrary to the requirements of the J Office, they may report such discipline issues to be managed by the J7 Head exclusively. QA reviewers must attend and review a minimum of one course per month. Any member of the QA team that fails to review a course at least once per month will be disciplined as per Section 7-2, AGAI 67, Mi. 12. [*]11-10. J8 – Regimental Provost J8 SOPs [*]11-11. Overview J9 is responsible for any outfacing content produced by 4IB. This is including but not limited to content posted on platforms such as: Youtube, Twitch, Twitter, Reddit etc. As such, J9 must adhere to both internal and external SOPs/Policies set out by 4IB and third-party platforms. Adhering to Internal Content Creation Policy J9 is a creative outlet, and as such any content created as tasked by or for J9 falls under the policy outlined in Section 11-2: Content Creation. [*]11-11 Sub.1-3. Adhering to External Platform Policies As an outward facing J-Office, J9 must abide by any and all policies/community guidelines implemented by the platforms we utilise as outlets. Specifics of these policies/community guidelines can be found on the respective platforms webpages. |
